★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1The Fireplace is a gay bar institution in DC.
It has been around for many years and I've been going there since 1989! So much potential.
July 24 · Jeffrey RandallAMAZING! Thursdays are legendary: go shirtless between 10–11 PM for free drinks, or show up in your underwear between 12–12:30 AM for a second round (literally).
Don’t miss the monthly Rough Houseparty (usually one Friday a month). With the migration of gay bars moving from Adams Morgan to Shaw and U Street, the ladies have been lost in the shuffle. The place has only gotten better with time. Around the corner from Number Nine, this laid-back hotspot serves famously strong drinks, has drag shows and theme nights, and boasts a large back patio with a smoking area.
Weekends get wild, and there’s almost always a line by 11 PM—so come early. Our happy hours are quite popular and nighttime gets even busier with djs playing music videos on the second floor. We learned some interesting things from him. no complaints- it’s what a gay dive bar should be. We have been open and and serving the LGBTIQIA community since 2010. This two-level bar serves up neighborhood vibes downstairs and wild party nights upstairs.
Love this place!
June 15 · Michael MDepressing!
The Pitchers family knows we need to extend the love, and give the gals a space to the enjoy just like the boys have had for years.

Just know there’s a $10 cover after 10 PM for Rough House—but shirtless Thursdays remain free every week.
The Fireplace
If you're unable to visit The Fireplace in person, some readers also choose to enjoy drinks at home. All monitors were on TBS cable channel watching TV. Not the vibe I was looking for on a Saturday night.
The new owner has chosen to kill any sort of ambiance in the place as the lights downstairs are always turned way up and the bartender plays free internet radio with commercials and all. Our cocktail menu is quite extensive with over 20 brands of vodka and multiple types of Mojitos. You could tell it has nice cozy neighborhood bar feel. Unpretentious, fun, and always a good time—Tradeis DC’s ultimate queer neighborhood bar.
One that just make you feel welcome as soon as you walk in. This used to be a hotspot with drink specials and a great happy hour.
